Frequently Asked Questions about Log Book servicing

To help you understand Log Book servicing and learn more about One Stop Auto Care in Nerang, please read the questions and answers below:

What is a Log Book Service?

A log book service is a periodic car service performed in compliance with the guidelines authorised by the manufacturer of the vehicle.

Why do I need a log book service?

Each log book service is unique to the make and model of the car, and your vehicle log book provides important information about the critical service requirements of your vehicle. These service requirements are listed in a specific order to ensure the right services are completed over the course of the vehicle's warranty. If log book services are not completed within the service schedule, this may void your manufacturer's warranty on the vehicle.

What happens if I miss a Service?

The log book service intervals for your vehicle are designed to ensure your car runs at an optimal performance throughout the life of your car. Missing a log book service not only has an adverse affect on your manufacture's warranty but will also have a negative affect on your vehicles performance, lifespan and resale value of the vehicle. If you miss a log book service, try and catch up as soon as possible.

Do you have Loan cars and how much do they cost?

We do offer loan cars to all customers for a small charge of $20.00 a day (subject to availability at the time of booking) We offer a "free" loan car to 'first time' customers receiving a log book or major service.

Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?

It is a common misconception that a new car owner must have their car serviced from the dealership where they purchased in order to maintain their warranty. This is not the case. The ACCC has stated that your car can be serviced by the mechanic of your choice, as long as the mechanic is qualified for the service. At One Stop Auto Care, our qualified and experienced mechanics have the skills to perform your log book car services to ensure your warranty remains valid, your log book completed and stamped and your car running smoothly every time you visit One Stop Auto Care. We have more information on this for you in our article. Please click here.

I have lost my Log Book, do I need it?

If you have lost your log book, don't stress! At One Stop Auto Care we keep all your servicing records in our system and can update a replacement book for you, should yours go missing or lost. We can provide you with a log book replacement to help you record your cars service history, which will be a huge benefit if you ever decide to sell your vehicle. We don't have to have a physical log book in order to carry out your Log Book Service - we follow manufacturers specifications for every vehicle for their log book servicing.

Do you provide Digital reports for the work you have done? or a digital report of what's wrong with my car?

At One Stop Auto Care we provide every customer with a "hard copy" tax invoice and inspection report at collection of their vehicle however, if you provide us with your email address we can certainly email you a copy of your invoice along with your 65 point inspection report as a digital copy.
You will receive a phone call from our service advisor Garry, after our trained technicians have completed the service notes, to advise you of any problems or issues they found during the service. We do not go ahead or complete extra work on your vehicle which has not been authorised by you first. You may notice on your invoice "Monitor Items" in the service notes section. These are items our technicians have noted that may need further investigation or "keeping an eye on". These items are for our future investigations and for your convenience so that as the vehicle owner, you are aware that these monitor items may need attendance in the future.

How long will the service take?

A standard log book service will take between 1.5 - 3 hours depending on the size of your vehicle and any extra items needing to be attended too.

How much will my service cost?

Your log book service cost will vary depending whether you have a 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder or 4wd vehicle and which service schedule you are needing ie. a 10,000km log book service is different to a 80,000km log book service. For a competitive and individualised quote, please call One Stop Auto Care and speak with Garry directly.

You can drop your car off any time from 7:30am, however, with prior arrangement in a difficult situation, it is sometimes a possibility to arrange for an earlier drop off than 7:30am or we can arrange for a drop off the afternoon before your booking if that suits as well.
We work our hardest to be as accommodating to all our customers and their personal situations.

I don't drive much, do I still need a service?

If you don't drive much, it is still important to have your vehicle serviced regularly to have the oil and filter changed and check the vital components of your vehicle. To maintain your warranty, you will still have to stick to the vehicle service schedule even if you don't drive that often.

Can you fix other things while my car is being serviced?

Yes, we can make time to fix other issues with your vehicle whilst it is in for a service, if the extra repairs exceed the allowed time or if certain parts need to be ordered in, we will advise you that your vehicle will need to be re-booked for another day.
